What are Library Challenges?
Library challenges are fun mini-treasure hunts that require no registration or purchase to participate. We hide a key in a library somewhere in the country. You find it. The key opens a treasure chest that contains $500 cash!
Each semester, we specify requirements for winning. In the past we've allowed children ages 6-16 to win, and we've done a special series of hunts just for teachers.
How do I find the key?
You've got to solve a riddle!
We post a new riddle on our website at a certain time each week. The solution to that riddle leads you to a specific book in a specific library. The key will be hidden in that book.
To help you out, we announce ahead of time the city in which the key is hidden. You can find all the current information on our Facebook page.
What kind of riddle?
Our riddles range in difficulty and type, depending on the city and book we're using that week. In the past, we've used secret codes, mazes, Sudoku puzzles, songs, and poems, to name a few.
We try to make our riddles challenging but not impossible. You've got to earn your $500! "There's no shortcut to adventure," as Tate Grayson would say.
Do I have to find the key to win?
You sure do. Our winner is the first person who actually tracks down the key and follows the instructions on a card attached to the key. You can't win the cash unless you have the key in hand.MEET ONE OF OUR WINNERS
